I downloaded xampp a few months ago, mainly to learn php/mysql. I know that it is not secure and should not be used for live projects, but can anybody access my computer externally when I am running it? I recently found a trojan on my computer and as a result an account I have has been hacked into, so I’m a little paranoid about security now. Any tips on how to completely secure xampp would be greatly appreciated.

I saw a definition concerning linux boot access:”Boot access is root access”. This makes the fact that if someone has physical access to the linux server, he can get root access and copy protected files.

Moreover, if a linux application server has to be packaged and installed “Physically” in companies this will give them access to the files and they can copy them illegally.

I heard of LIDS (Linux Intrusion Detection System) but I couldn’t understand the boot access security.
My question:
Is there a boot level security that enables the fact of packaging server applications and install them in companies without the risk of the code being stolen (especially if it’s in a scripting language php, asp)

ok.. every time i access the internet, i am redirected to this website: http://browser-security.microsoft.com/blocked.php?r=21.1, i realize this is a scam but it is very stubborn, i have since deleted the virus that comes with this however the redirection has not ceased.. how do i make this stubborn problem go away?

I made a site in PHP where I upload and store files with sensitive information. I forbid access to the uploaded file directory in .htaccess. The files are read through a php page with a login.

I don’t want anyone to read the files, or even see the filenames without logging in. I need this as secure as possible.

Any suggestions for improving security? Should I get an SSL certificate for the site?

my php and mysql program in not working, do u know how to solve this problem?
