WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama’s Democratic allies in the Senate have repelled a move by presidential rival John McCain to send an additional 6,000 National Guard troops to the U.S-Mexico border.

The Arizona Republican says the security situation along the order has deteriorated so badly that 3,000 guard troops are needed just to help protect his state. But McCain failed to muster the required 60 votes for his plan as the Senate continued debate on an a war funding bill.

Obama on Tuesday promised to send 1,200 Guard troops to the border to support efforts to block drug trafficking and temporarily supplement Border Patrol agents until more agents can be trained.

PHOENIX – One day prior to President Barack Obama’s visit to the Valley, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has a message for the president: “I don’t believe in amnesty. That’s what all this is about.”

Arpaio says Obama and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano are off the mark when it comes to illegal immigration reform.

“Why doesn’t he say, ‘Let’s get rid of all the illegals taking these jobs, so our citizens can have the jobs.’ Why are they saying that we should only arrest the employer and not the employees that are here illegally? Now, if I met with the president, I would ask him that question,” Arpaio said.

The president says he expects Congress to draft immigration bills this year and he’s working on getting the measures passed in 2010. Meanwhile, Arpaio says he’d be happy to share some insight.

“If I was the president, I’d say ‘sheriff, can you come to the White House? I’d like to talk to you about this whole problem.’ You don’t think that’s ever gonna happen? Or Janet, she knows who I am,” Arpaio said.

On his first official day in the White House, President Barack Obama was on the horn to President Mahmoud Abbas.

“The spokesman for President Abbas revealed that Mr. Obama had told the Palestinian leader that their conversation was his first with a foreign statesman since taking office.” (TimesOnLine, Jan. 22, 2009).

Some thought that first call to the leader of the Palestinian authority was for spite. Others for statesman like reasons, still others for appeasement.

Given that a clip from Al-Jazeera televised Hamas-controlled Palestinians “burning up the phone bank from Gaza” to rally support for his presidential campaign, perhaps the telephone call was made out of gratitude.

Seven days later on January 27, President Obama signed Presidential Determination No. 2009-15, which allocates $20.3 million for Palestinian migration and refugee assistance.

Today a memo sent by President Obama to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seems to invite Hamas to “migrate” into the United States of America.

The presidential determination covers the “Unexpected Urgent Refugee and Migration Needs Related to Gaza.” You are authorized and directed to publish this memorandum in the Federal Register,” President Obama instructs t he new Secretary of State.

Two days before Obama’s inauguration, Israel began pulling its troops out of Gaza.

One week after his inauguration, President Obama designated $20.3 million to the Palestinians in Gaza.

What security measures are in place to keep Hamas terrorists from gaining free access into the U.S.?

In the midst of the Democrat National Convention in Denver, Colorado, Democrat Congressman Luis Gutierrez urged immigrants to join him in supporting Barack Obama in the upcoming presidential election.

While the representative from Illinois did not come out and tell illegal and legal immigrants to vote for Obama, it’s difficult to see how immigrants can help Obama except by voting for him. And most states do little, if anything, to prevent voter fraud.

“If you want change, it is time for Latinos and for immigrants to rally behind the next President of the United States, Barack Obama. Tonight, I ask my friends in the Latino community, in the immigrant community, please join me, because Barack Obama is the change we need,” said Rep. Gutierrez
Also, in an article appearing in the online publication The Politico on August 6, Gutierrez lowered himself to using inflammatory rhetoric simply unacceptable for a member of Congress. “You know who is in charge now? The Gestapo agents at Homeland Security. They are in charge,” Gutierrez told The Politico.

In recent months ICE has increased its efforts to enforce laws against the employment of illegal aliens. In addition to arresting people for violations of US immigration law, ICE has also taken action against people involved in identity theft and the employment of underage workers.

Working with local law enforcement agencies, ICE is showing some success in capturing large numbers of illegal aliens who are members of organized crime gangs such as MS-13, the Mexican Mafia and others. In one report, obtained by the National Association of Chiefs of Police, ICE revealed that its agents arrested over 10,000 criminal aliens who are being charged with murders, rapes, robberies and other violent crimes.
