I need a laptop which would last me at least 3 years and be at least have a 16 inch screen. It should be good for gaming (not extreme gaming) and under $1300. I have found 2 laptops.

has this happened to anyone else?

Anti-Malware Programs Problems?

I have an HP Compaq 6710b laptop running Windows XP Professional, version 2002, service pack 3. Since the security was lacking, I recently downloaded 3 new security programs (Avast! Free, Spybot, and Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware).
Avast gave met this error when I attempted to install it:
There was an error while completing the setup process.

The other two programs installed successfully, but when I try to update Malwarebytes’, it says:
An error occurred. Please report the following error code to the Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware support team.
Error code: 732 (0, 0)

When I attempt to update Spybot, it says:
Error retrieving update info file!

A few things to note:
Internet Explorer says it cannot display any web page I visit, while all the other web browsers on my computer work fine.
When diagnosing connection problems with the XP network diagnostic, it claimed that the internet was not working and it said the connection problem was most likely caused by the firewall; though the internet is working fine (wireless connection through home router).
Spybot takes an exorbitant amount of time to load.
As another note, Malwarebytes’ discovered malware in the system yesterday. I believe the name was Hijack.regedit. I removed this as soon as I found it.

How to get rid of internet explorer tab popups?! PLZ HELP?

Ok, well it all started when I got a trojan on my laptop. Its a windows vista. Before this, I had installed Symantec Norton Security. So I made a new user and used that user to delete the user with the trojan. It turns out that this trojan got to THIS user, but this user is faster in internet than the other one. So I user norton to quarantine and delete this virus. But now, for some reason, about every 10 minutes or so I KEEP on GETTING the same popup in another ie tab even though I turend on all the popup blockers and restricted this site. This is the link to the site, although I dont advice you click it: http://protectionreads.com/hitin.php?land=20&affid=12400

So now, how do I stop it from coming up? Please dont give me links to downloads.
