MySQL query + table/field setup?
I must ask
How do large #’s of items fit inside MySQL table/fields with multiple categories
Im using PHP+MySQL, Im unable to design with this skill
example using flowers
many flowers in many different occassions & categories
fields : data
flower item: 12 roses
category: roses, 1 dozen, red, yellow, pink, white
occassion: birthday, anniversary, surprise, easter
price: 29.99
shipping: same day
description: classic romance, one dozen red roses is always a good choice
itemID: RR345-2
color: red, yellow, pink, white
I would like to have seperate field/subfield for all data, that is the problem I cant get around
Do I place all data in same field comma delimited & run the output of my query through many filters to arrange & format
Reasonable Server Setup?
I have an old Pentium III 750Mhz Dell notebook with 256mb of ram and a 20gb hard drive. Since I do not have an optical drive on the system, I rely upon Windows based Linux installers or the dreaded PXE-boot installations. Since Ubuntu is the easiest to install, I decided I will use Xubuntu (an Ubuntu derrivative). So here are the functions I want it to perform:
- Router. I would like it to accept at least 1250 concurrent connections (not that I’ll ever reach that number of concurrent connections, but I would like to be able to use the connection without bottlenecks if I am running BitTorrent to download the latest release of a Linux distro or a pod/vidcast.) It is necessary to have a way to manage this from a local computer using a web-interface. It also must act as a firewall with VPN passthrough.
- DNS Server
- File Server for internal use. Must be able to be connected to from Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
- Print Server for internal use. Must be able to be connected to from Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
- Web Server for public use. Must be able to use PHP, Perl, MySQL in conjunction with it.
- Mail Server for private use (only people in my house / family will be able to use it as a client, however I still want to be able to recieve emails and send emails like one would do with a hosted Mail Server). Anti-SPAM is a must.
- Security Gateway. Not as important, but if I could run it, I would.
- Simplified Windows Domain Controller. Again not as important, but I would like something that is easy to configure and that allows for Mac OS X / Linux clients.

Spyware Problem or something of the sort?
I tried downloading a file last night and it ended up being called setup 903. I opened the program and it disapeered from the file and now i have a “look-a-like” mcafe warning your computer is infected poping up in my start bar. It says “You have a security problem!” and i know its fake. When i have clicked on it it sends me to this site and tries downloading fake spyware onto my computer

I downloaded Hijackthis and AVG but neither has worked.
Can anyone help?
$20 for the simplest php bulletin board – spare me the configs with a PHP?
This is a totally simple bulletin board. We have a header already, and a typical linux/php/mysql setup (with cpanel if that matters).
The URL will not be publicly available, so we don’t need security.
The page says:
Welcome
Your Name:
What are you grateful for? (big text box, we can play with the dimensions]
Submit!
And then says
Here are the Responses from Your Community:
[and the lists the previous responses. This might look like:]
—-
John said:
I’m grateful for my dog.
Fred said:
I’m really grateful for my two kids.
etc

at the bottom have the form again for the person to enter
Once people submit the page, they go to a page that looks just like the one above, but without the text box.
Am I allowed you paypal you $20 for the answer? I surely would, and be grateful for it!
